I'm Cole Prophet, MS, Licensed Professional Counselor intern. I am a Portland State University alum. Although I specialized in Marital, Couples, and Family Counseling while there, I use the systems perspective inherent in couples counseling with individuals, too. My intersectional identity includes being Black and non-binary. I am also sex-positive as I work comfortably with sex workers, as well as individuals who have kink/BDSM or ethically non-monogamous connections.
My style is eclectic. I don't believe that there is a one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. My counseling style includes both evidence and theory based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment work, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness. Regardless of which standard modality I may use in session, my unifying technique is getting to know clients with non-judgmental and open curiosity. I reflect back the strengths I see and I encourage clients to be the owners of their own healing journey. I believe that you know where you want to go, but are uncertain of how to get there. I just hold the compass.
